Matali Crasset Launches her Latest Collection to Support Local French Craftsmen
02 JUNE 2015, AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS
Matali Crasset exclusively launches and premieres the `We Trust In Wood` collection on design launch platform CROWDY HOUSE. The collection consists of seven contemporary objects produced by local craftsmen of the region ‘La Meuse’. It is a small local project with a strong and powerful meaning – to improve and support the rural art center of ‘Vent des Forêts’ in France. The entire process of the collection is centered on the same region in France, from inspiration to production to sales.
The `We Trust In Wood` collection is a collaboration between Matali Crasset and Philippe Huet, a local craftsman of the region ‘La Meuse’. The durable designs reveal the unique aspect of the strong ash and sycamore trees of the surrounding area. Crasset is known for her participation in earth conscious and sustainable projects; therefore, working with the craftsmen of 'Vent des Forêts' was a logical step in her career.
In collaboration with `Vent des Forêts', the art center that showcases a new way of living in a rural area, Crasset designed tree forest houses to represent the simple life and evoke life in the wilderness of the rural France. ‘We Trust In Wood’ is a collection of durable wooden items that are inspired by the rustic interior of these houses. “The ‘We Trust In Wood’ collection is a small project with a strong and powerful meaning. It allows us to improve and support the activity of ‘Vent des Forêts’ in its area. This is a simple yet affordable way by which people can support the art center”, Crasset explains.
Crasset explicitly decided to launch the collection on the online marketplace CROWDY HOUSE. “The commissions on CROWDY HOUSE are significantly lower than other retail commissions. It allows this project to materialize, which would not be possible in a classic business,” she emphasizes. CROWDY HOUSE has the mission to democratize the design industry by providing a low commission service for designers to help sell their products directly. “It is a privilege to be able to launch a premiere of Matali Crasset on CROWDY HOUSE. With the ‘We Trust in Woods’ collection we can express our support towards the artists, designers and craftsmen who participate in the activity of ‘Vent des Forêts’," says Mark Studholme, CEO of CROWDY HOUSE.
""This project ‘Into the Woods’ is being launched exclusively and promoted by CROWDY HOUSE. This is due to CROWDY HOUSE’s low commissions, which are significantly lower than retail commissions.
